The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has updated the CBSE 10th exam dates for 2026. The exam originally set for March 3, 2026, has been rescheduled to March 11, 2026. The revised dates will be available on the official website - cbse.nic.in. The CBSE has organized the Class 10 board exams in two phases: the first phase from February 17, 2026, and the second phase on April 9, 2026, which will serve as an improvement/re-attempt exam.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted a webinar on November 20, 2025, addressing all queries students had regarding the dual conduct of CBSE Class 10 board exams starting this year. Rahul Singh stated that students must mandatorily participate in the first set of exams, and can subsequently opt to enhance their performance in three subjects (from math, science, social science, and two language papers) during the second set of exams. He further mentioned that the Board anticipates that around 40% of students will choose to take the second board exams in each of the main subjects.

- The CBSE Class 10 phase is scheduled from February 17 to March 11, 2026. The second phase exams for CBSE 10th in 2026 will take place between May 15 and June 1, 2026.
- The Phase 1 exams are compulsory for all students, while the Phase 2 exams are optional for those who wish to improve their scores.

CBSE Class 10 Exam 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for CBSE class 10 compartment exams, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for these exams in 2025. The following table outlines the eligibility requirements for CBSE class 10 compartment exams.
- Regular candidates who have taken the CBSE class 10 exam in 2025 and were declared as compartment.
- Regular candidates who appeared in 6/7 subjects and were declared “Pass” due to subject replacement can take that subject under the improvement category, provided they have a valid combination of subjects according to the date sheet.
- Regular candidates who passed the CBSE class 10 exam can appear in up to two subjects under the improvement category, given they have a valid combination of subjects as per the date sheet.
